Founded by Maurice Ditisheim in 1858, Vulcain is best known for being the inventor of the wristwatch alarm complication. At the height of their popularity they also made a number of innovative dive and expedition watches.
The attractive chronograph offered today is a good example of why the brand is highly regarded by collectors. The smart case design, with a nicely sized round case at 36.5mm and thick lugs, gives the watch a generous profile on the wrist. The centrepiece is of course the dial, striking black in colour with an eye-catching surfboard design. We particularly love the dotted racing style pattern on the surfboard. The painted white chronograph and seconds hands are another nice touch, adding to the usefulness and legibility of the chronograph but also, let’s be honest, looking extremely cool.
With vintage chronographs becoming highly sought after, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal at this price range considering this watch’s pedigree and stunning looks.
