Up for sale is an ultra rare Gubelin clock, from the late 1950s or early 1960s. Gubelin made small batches (fifty to a hundred) of a number of limited designs, and this would have been one of the higher end models. This is a massive clock, measuring approximately 30cm (11 3/4") x 21cm (8 1/4") x 11.5cm (4 1/2") and weighing in at a little over 6.8kg (15 pounds)! The case is made from solid gilt brass and faux tortoiseshell. A number of high quality touches add to the regal character of the clock, such as the thick, heavily bevelled crystal (in perfect condition), the fancy carrying handle, and the beautiful floral decoration and swan adorned on the dial.
The high quality Swiss Sonceboz 8-day movement has been completely serviced and runs eagerly, keeping excellent time, as well as chiming the hours and half hour correctly. There is a silent lever located on the movement that is accessed once four screws are removed from the back plate.
