Produced at the time of Movado and Zenith’s partnership, the Datron is a stunning chronograph powered by the legendary El Primero movement.
The panda dial, inspired by a 1960s racing aesthetic, comes with a creamy off-white colour and matte black registers giving the watch a refined but sporty appearance. Interestingly, Movado modified the movement to feature the date at 12 o’clock, with a black disk and white numerals to match the tachymetre chapter ring and sub-dials.
The 38mm case also features 1960s design cues, but with a touch of 1970s funkiness. It wears larger then its measurements suggest, owing to the unique, not quite tonneau shape.
Overall a very attractive, highly collectible piece of watchmaking history. We’ve paired it with a suede Molequin strap in green.
Stainless steel case in good condition, with honest wear (minor nicks and scratches, tool marks on back), Sub Sea engraving is strong. Unsigned crown, top pusher appears to be a replacement. New acrylic crystal. Attractive dial with creamy off-white colour, clean writing, some minor spotting present. Hands with original aged lume.
