We're continuing with the recent exhibition of wonderful mid-century Jaeger LeCoultre desk clocks with a very special "Space Age" clock from the 1960s. This rare clock features a unique retro futuristic design, with an asymmetrical lacquered white brass case on 3 angled feet. The dial features a Memovox style layout, with an inner rotating disk that sets the alarm. We particularly love the thick applied gold indicators at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock contrasted with the printed black lines that make up the rest of the hours and 15 minute marks.
Inside is a workhorse JLC Caliber 219 movement that we just finished overhauling. A single winder is used for both the 8-day movement and alarm.
The case is in fantastic condition, with some minor loss of paint, but overall in much better shape then is usually found with these considering the lacquered finish. The domed acrylic crystal has some slight crazing that is only obvious under certain angles, and doesn't take away from the legibility of the dial. The dial is mostly damage free, with a few marks of wear. The hands have been relumed.
The clock measures approximately 6.5cm tall (including the angled feet) and is approximately 6.5cm wide.
