Elgin manufactured a lot of watches during their heyday, and while most are not as sought after today as some of their contemporaries, it's hard to deny that they made great looking watches. As an example we have a handsome Shockmaster model today that makes a strong case for the brand, with a robust stainless case pared with a sleek dial with a patterned finish and bold, gold hour numerals. The dauphine hands and seconds hand with red pointer complete the elegant, attractive package. We are not sure if the watch left the factory with the two-tone look or the dial was replaced at some point, but the result is striking.
We have pared it with a distinct Hirsch Mariner strap in gold brown that we feel adds to the understated and colourful look of the watch. This one is a delight on the wrist.
