About:

Wakmann has seen a surge in popularity over the past few years as collectors discover the brand’s unique history and offering of interesting watches. A lot has already been written about it’s founder, and his start as a distributer and importer of watches, first in Europe then in the US starting in 1946. Although the brand became famous for creating aircraft cockpit clocks for the US military, they also started to produce their own watches after entering into a joint venture with Breitling in 1947.

Today's Wakmann is a great example of the kind of classically styled, robust chronograph the brand cut its teeth into. With a sunburst finish gold dial and guilloche blue registers, white sub-dial hands and bright orange seconds, the aesthetics pop with undeniable 1960s charm. A clean gold plated case and the always reliable Valjoux 7733 inside complete the attractive package.

We’ve paired it with a taupe grained calf Molequin strap to make this a great choice for either everyday wear or more special occasions.

Gold plated case is fantastic and shows minimal signs of polishing or loss of plate, with thick lugs and sharp factory lines. Steel back is great, with original brushed finish and strong engraving. New acrylic crystal and unsigned crown. Original pump pushers. Dial is almost mint, with a couple of minor spots but otherwise very clean, original tritium lume plots. Hands have been relumed. Original white and orange paint on sweep seconds and chronograph hands are excellent, with only minor marks.
