About

While all of the Chronostop variants are obviously inspired by a racing aesthetic, with reference 145.010 Omega attempted to make a watch specifically for drivers. The idea was to have the dial rotated 90 degrees, so when the watch was worn on the underside of the wrist, one could more easily read the time with his or her hands on a steering wheel.

Like all Chronostops, the "Driver" features a simplified hand-wound chronograph movement. The 60-second only stopwatch works with a single pusher. You activate with one press, then press again to stop and hold to read the seconds hand. Releasing the pusher will reset to zero.

The example we have today comes with the Caliber 920, a modified version of the 865 movement found in non-date Chronostops that adds a date feature, and a near perfect white dial. Out of all the colour variations the Chronostop was offered in, the white dial is perhaps the most pleasing in combination with the white/black hands and orange seconds, creating a striking contrast that fits the racing aesthetic perfectly.

We have paired the watch with an elegant Molequin suede strap in caramel to make this a fine choice for any occasion.
