A fantastic example of the highly desirable Cosmic Moonphase, today's reference 2486 is a stunner for many reasons.
First is the "jumbo" case, with a larger size compared to most Cosmic models, coming in at slightly over 37mm. Combined with the rare rose gold finish and fancy lugs, the watch has a tremendous wrist presence.
Second is the original dial. Since these watches were not waterproof, water damage was common and consequently finding a non-refinished example can be difficult. The dial on today's 2486 is not only untouched, but in superb condition, with clean print and vibrant colours. The clear blue calendar track combined with the blue pointer hand are vintage perfection. Likewise, the brown and yellow hues of the moonphase disk have taken on a soft patinated colour that are sublime.
If this one wasn't already special, its provenance certainly is, with a unique Portuguese "Church Latin" calendar system, the days reading as 2aF, 3aF, 4aF, 5aF, 6aF, SAB, and DOM.

Overall Condition:
Case in very good condition, with expected marks of wear commensurate with age, minor loss of plate in a few spots. Genuine, signed crown. Acrylic crystal is good. Original dial is fantastic, with minor spotting and marks, mostly around the centre, but overall very clean with clear, legible printing intact. Rose gold hands and blue calendar hand are very good, sub-seconds hand shows some wear.
