About

We are excited to share another World War II era watch today, this time a spectacular CK2300 dating to 1943.

This reference was one of the earliest Omegas with central seconds. Like the famous Medicus from 1937, it would have been particularly useful for medical professionals or military personnel relying on easier and accurate reading.

Typical of the period, the watch comes in a mid-size case, making this a good choice for smaller wrists. The original finish has been painstakingly restored, accentuating the attractive contours of the stepped bezel and faceted lugs. We have replaced the crown with an appropriate Omega replacement, although the original would have been unsigned.

The original silver dial is spectacular, and features radium hour numerals with blued steel (relumed) syringe hands.

There was some discussion in the workshop about whether the seconds hand was original or a later replacement. While we could find no documented example of another CK2300 with an arrow tip seconds, it appears to be the same material and age as the hour and minute hands, and has the exact spade end and precise length of other examples. My honest guess is that it is an original, rare variant.

Overall this is a fantastic piece of Omega history, and a delight on the wrist. We’ve paired it with a Rios cowhide strap in light brown to accentuate the warm patinated tones of the dial.
