There have been a number of articles written recently about Chronographe Suisse, detailing the maker's unique history of assembling at-the-time relatively inexpensive chronographs for brands and jewellers to adopt and sell. The gist is that while these watches varied in many different case styles and movements, from Landeron to Valjoux and Venus, today they are regarded as well built, high-quality and collectible pieces that offer a unique and affordable perspective on mid-century Swiss horology.
This attractive Lycke chronograph ticks all of the boxes that make these watches so desirable. The well proportioned 18k gold case with charming teardrop lugs, colourful and distinct dial and diamond shaped hands are a delight to behold, and even at a (for modern taste) smaller 34mm size wears immaculately on the wrist. Inside is the ever reliable Landeron 48, with the chronograph starting with the top pusher while the bottom stops and resets.
Overall a great looking and fun, gold chronograph offered at an irresistible price. We have pared it with a handmade vegetable tanned leather strap that compliments its stylish aesthetic.
