About
Having an alarm is definitely among the most useful complications you can find on a wristwatch. And while Jaeger LeCoultre didn't make the first ever alarm complication, they have produced some of the most iconic alarm watches of the last 70 years.
Reference E855 is probably one of the more popular vintage alarm models on the market. It's easy to see why! With a large-at-the-time almost 38mm case, it strikes a very flattering profile on the wrist. The dual dial, with an inner rotating alarm disk, is a classic look that JLC has maintained since its introduction. On the technical side, the combination of bumper automatic winding and hammer alarm system is, as we wrote previously, "marvellously tactile, and you can feel both moving as you wear the watch on your wrist."
Overall, this is a superb example of an American market Memovox, and an attractive addition to any collection in need of a vintage alarm.
