About
The tuning fork movement, developed in the 1950s by a Swiss engineer named Max Hetzel, was seen as revolutionary when it debuted in 1960, and the first Accutron models caught early admirers such as Elvis Presley, who owned numerous models. Known for its smooth sweeping seconds hand and the humming produced by the tuning fork, this technology heralded a new age in horology, one looking toward a space-age future in an industry often obsessed with the past.
Today's Accutron is a USA factory reference 2362, or "Spaceview B", the first stainless Spaceview produced in North America. We picked this up from the original owner, who purchased it in Vancouver in 1965. The movement was given an overhaul, but otherwise the watch was left untouched, with the original, factory yellow dot crystal and painted yellow lance hands still present.
The larger 36mm "turtle" case on this model strikes a fantastic profile on the wrist, its unique design really drawing attention to the legendary movement inside. We've paired it with one of our favourite straps, an elegant and fun Molequin Saffiano strap in hazel.

Overall condition:
Stainless case and back in excellent condition, appear to have been minimally polished in the past, thick with sharp edges and crisp original brushing throughout, back with deep factory engraving. Original yellow dot acrylic crystal is good, some minor scratches and marks of wear. Original painted yellow lance hands are clean. Overall in fantastic condition.
