About
Founded in New York in 1885, Wittnauer had a historically close relationship with Longines, acting as their official importer for decades before being outright bought by the Swiss company in 1950. Longines-Wittnauer would go on to distribute LeCoultre and Vacheron watches in the North American market.
Today’s Wittnauer is a first generation model of a stylish reference we have previously featured in the shop. This one also comes with a classic sporty 40mm case, striking burgundy bezel and oversize (albeit even slightly wider) lume-filled hands and lollipop seconds. Unlike later models with the more commonplace Valjoux movement, inside is a Wittnauer 14Y, a modified Landeron 248, meaning the top pusher starts the chronograph while the bottom stops and resets.
We have paired this fantastic piece with a Molequin grained calf strap in anthracite, a dark grey leather to complement the matte black dial and rich patinated lume.

We have given the movement a complete overhaul, and it runs eagerly and keeps excellent time. Chronograph starts, stops, and resets smoothly. One year mechanical warranty included.

40mm (not including crown and pushers) stainless steel case and back
Strap:
Molequin grained calf in Anthracite (MSRP: €105.00)
Overall condition:
Case is excellent, with almost no evidence of polish, thick with sharp edges. Back with original brushed finish. Rotating bezel is fantastic, some minor wear, has faded nicely into a dark burgundy colour. New unsigned crown and original pump pushers. New acrylic crystal. Matte black dial is near mint, with finely aged tritium indicators and matching hands. Overall one of the cleanest examples we have seen of this reference.
