About

While all of the Chronostop variants are obviously inspired by a racing aesthetic, with reference 145.010 Omega attempted to make a watch specifically for drivers. The idea was to have the dial rotated 90 degrees, so when the watch was worn on the underside of the wrist, the driver could more easily read the time with his or her hands on a steering wheel.

Like all Chronostops, the "Driver" features a simplified hand-wound chronograph movement. The 60-second only stopwatch works with a single pusher. You activate with one press, then press again to stop and hold to read the seconds hand. Releasing the pusher will reset to zero.

Today's example comes with its original Omega Milanese bracelet and dates to 1967, the first year of "Geneve" Chronostop production. The grey sloped dial on this one looks fantastic paired with the steel bracelet, with the white/black hands and red seconds providing a smart splash of colour that makes this sensational piece pop on the wrist.
