Up for sale is a gorgeous desk clock, the Imhof Louis XV. This beautifully realized piece is patterned after 18th century French ormolu clocks.
In their catalogue, Imhof described the clock as coming in a "gilt and patinated case" with "fine goldsmith's work", and featuring a "gilt and chiselled dial with black Roman figures on white enamel cartouches." The regal black hands add to the elegant look of the clock.
We have serviced the high-end Imhof 8-day movement, and it works eagerly, keeping good time. The clock presents very well. The gilt (10k Gold electroplate) is in remarkable condition, while the crystal is perfect.
The clock measures approximately 165cm tall and is 90cm wide and 40cm thick.
