About

There are a number of vintage regatta timers, some historic (Aquastar Regate), some iconic (Heuer Skipper), but perhaps the most wonderfully colourful and busiest of them all is the Wakmann Regatta.

The Wakmann Regatta is incredibly eye-catching and colourful in person. The large stylish gold-plated cushion case is distinctively period appropriate and the watch commands a strong wrist presence. The inner tachymeter has the first 15 minutes of the counter denoted in colourful 5 minute blocks (used to more helpfully measure the initial 15 minute countdown to a yachting race). The rotating inner chapter ring features days of the week in different vibrant colours, and is used by lining up the correct day to the 1st of the separate date chapter ring, thus making it easy to be able to tell quickly what date will fall on which day for the entire month.

The Lemania 1340 movement was co-produced by Lemania and Omega (their version is the Caliber 1040). Suffice to say this is an extremely interesting and rather complex movement, being Lemania and Omega's first automatic chronograph movement. Among some of its quirks, it features an unusual arrangement of hands, with 4 central hands including chronograph seconds and minute recorder hands. We have fully serviced the movement and it works eagerly, keeping good time. All functions work as they should.

The gold plated case is in good condition, with some loss of plate (particularly on the sides), but overall presents very cleanly. The dial is perfect, and all chapter rings retain crisp and vivid colouring. We have pared the watch with a colourful handmade leather racing style strap that goes along with the regatta heritage of the watch, and compliments its bold styling.
